blending existing and new

Bank of Elk River

elkriver

Challenge: Like the city that it serves, The Bank of Elk River was growing and needed to expand and update. The current location in the heart of downtown was important to maintain, the existing work stations were in great condition and maintaining a historic balance was important.

Solution: By utilizing the current work stations in a new configuration their investment was maintained. Adding new work stations in more visible areas gave an updated feel. Replacing the furnishings in the private offices and blending the wood finishes in the lobby areas created a cohesive feel and by incorporate some of the historic pieces from the original bank in public areas created a feel of history and community. The project involved creating an expansion and knocking out a wall between the buildings. The staff was a part of each of the phases and felt a lot of ownership and loss of productivity was minimal.
